Ethos and Values

Aspiring, believing and achieving together!

St Peter’s is a warm, caring and inclusive school where everyone feels valued and can grow in confidence and faith. In this supportive community, children are encouraged to develop enquiring minds, a lifelong love of learning and a respect for other people and cultures. A team of dedicated staff and governors inspire children through a broad range of opportunities both in the classroom and the wider world.

Aims of the School

Underpinned by our core Christian values of Community, Compassion, Truth, Trust, Friendship and Endurance, St Peters School Brafferton has an overall aim to nurture and develop enquiring, critical minds and creative imaginations, along with the self-esteem and disposition to use them to the full.

  • To provide a broad and balanced curriculum through which high standards of learning and teaching play an integral part.
  • To ensure each child enjoys learning and achieves their potential, through knowing and understanding what they can do and what to do next.
  • To create an attractive, stimulating and challenging learning environment and a secure, friendly atmosphere, where children can thrive and parents/guardians feel welcome.
  • To ensure equality of access to all school resources and learning opportunities for everyone in the school community, whatever their ability, background, race, gender or particular need.
  • To create a caring, considerate and kind ethos within school, based on Christian values.
  • To help children develop and recognise the beliefs, values and understanding of the society in which they live and their responsibility towards it.
  • To appreciate diversity through developing an appreciation and understanding of other groups, races, religions, ways of life and points of view.
  • To develop an awareness and appreciation of human achievements and aspirations in our own and other societies.
